Harvest Boxes - Everything comes around again

By Maggie

My Perspective is where the individual voices of our community members can be heard

This (Harvest Boxes) brings up memories of welfare cheese and dried eggs. The cheese was edible, the eggs could not be made palatible even with massive amounts of spices. Spices which I presume are not included in the “boxes”.

It seems like a program that will need a lot of management and will reduce the amount of spend in the community. This is not a great economic scenario. You continue to pay for SNAP management, but then add many times the number of people sourcing, accumulating, and manufacturing the food boxes.  A pre-selection of food will also create a high percentage of food waste.
