The criticism of President Biden over his Afghanistan exit is excessive, suggests David Rothkopf of USA Today. The situation could not have been resolved better, and Biden handled it the best he could. America had to get out, and the Taliban were always going to regain control. Biden did the right thing, igniting a painful process that had been 20 years in the making and offered no good solution. America cut its costs and can now invest resources in more beneficial projects elsewhere.
The US withdrawal from Afghanistan was a disaster, infers Jim Webb of The National Interest. President Biden's administration gave the Taliban incredible advantages, such as access to all the military hardware and infrastructure the US left behind and allowing them to persecute US allies in the country. Americans also died needlessly, such as 13 of our soldiers in a terrorist attack. The withdrawal was far too hasty and didn't account for many variables, creating unmeasurable harm.
