Putin's aggression in Ukraine is the main force behind high gas prices in the US, asserts Paul Krugman of The New York Times. While Republicans seek to blame President Biden, his hands are tied in this matter. The cost of gasoline is soaring across the world. This is because the price of crude oil has gone up significantly. Russia's invasion and the ensuing Western sanctions are behind this rise. Similar events in history caused this too: the 1973 Yom Kippur War and 1979 Iranian revolution. The US government has to ensure that we don't enter a recession, for example, by keeping interest rates low. However, it is not fair to blame Biden for this situation.

President Biden is trying to avoid responsibility by blaming Russia for soaring gas prices, writes Greg Sindelar of Fox News. The fact of the matter is that gas prices were increasing before Putin's aggression started. Biden's energy policy is the main culprit here. He took decisions, like pausing oil and gas leasing on federal land and reimposing restrictions on methane, which have significantly hampered domestic energy production. Biden should restart the Keystone project, which would provide an additional 500,000 barrels of oil daily. His decisions are the reasons Americans pay so much for gas. It is in Biden's hands whether this situation improves or not.
