THERE ARE AT LEAST TWO SIDES TO EVERY STORY

The US should focus on matters other than the Russia-Ukraine situation, writes Josh Hawley in Fox News. Pushing for Ukraine to join NATO and going to war for it is simply not in our interest. US foreign policy has been far too arrogant and wasteful, as has been seen in the Middle East. A big confrontation with Russia only benefits China, which is America's real geopolitical threat. Additionally, European nations have been happy to rely on America's protection while letting their own military spending dry up. This needs to change; Ukraine is a European issue and European countries have the means to resolve it themselves instead of letting the US take the lead.

America has to take a firm stance against Russian saber-rattling with Ukraine, asserts Greg Ganske of the Des Moines Register. Putin has gathered 170,000 troops on the Ukrainian border. An invasion would be catastrophic; it could cause immense economic damage, upset the power balance in Europe and embolden China regarding Taiwan. Not to mention, tens of thousands of people would probably die. The US must display unity with its European allies and show Russia that it will unleash crippling sanctions if it invades. Ukraine's borders being respected is of immense interest to the US, which can and should deter Russian aggression.
