The 2020 Democratic National Convention highlights Democrats' swing to the left, believes Ronna McDaniel of Fox News. Their politicians have been catering to liberals from coastal cities over the rest of America. A big platform for people like Bernie Sanders or Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez shows that the party is getting closer to socialism. Kamala Harris, the nominee for Vice President, was once a more moderate politician but now caters to liberals by supporting Medicare for All and the Green New Deal. This convention shows that Democrats are out of touch with most Americans and embrace their party's growing left-wing shift.
The 2020 DNC proves Democrats' drift to the right while pretending to hold liberal values, writes Branko Marcetic of Jacobin Magazine. In the middle of what is likely the largest protest movement in US history, against police violence and systemic racism, many speakers, from Joe Biden to Bill Clinton and Michael Bloomberg, contributed to building this racist architecture. Five Republicans were given a platform, while Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the party's rising star, was only allowed a 60-second pre-recorded message. Most speakers embodied the right-wing system they claim to oppose. Real left-wing values were silently quashed at the DNC.
